Visit of High-Level Delegation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to BIOPOLISTA
We were delighted to welcome a distinguished delegation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to our BMBF-funded junior research group BIOPOLISTA at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Rosli Md. Ilias, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Hesham Ali El-Enshasy, Director of the Innovation Centre in Agritechnology for Advanced Bioprocessing, and Prof. Dr. Roshanida A. Rahman, Chair of the Health and Wellness Research Alliance. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for in-depth discussions on the development of the bioeconomy and biotechnology at the global level, with a particular focus on Malaysia. We exchanged perspectives on science-policy interfaces, innovation systems, and future avenues for bilateral collaboration. The meeting further strengthened the growing partnership between BIOPOLISTA and UTM, building on previous exchanges and field research activities in Malaysia. We are very much looking forward to continuing and expanding this collaboration in the future. As part of the program, we also had the opportunity to visit the Decision Circuits Lab led by Dr. Torben Ott. The lab’s interdisciplinary approach — integrating biology, psychology, neuroscience, and engineering — was highly impressive and sparked stimulating conversations about cross-disciplinary research perspectives. We sincerely thank our colleagues from UTM for their visit and the inspiring exchange.
